Public Health

Covid-19 hit our community hard. I will advocate for investment in tools and resources that will protect Sheboyganites. Like contact tracers, business support grants, advocating for more testing centers & a user-friendly online resource center.
We must recognize that affordable housing is essential for good public health. We need to preserve our communities and support sustainable land-use policies that maintain neighborhood integrity and allow diverse and middle-class families to stay in their communities. We also must produce truly affordable housing through adaptive reuse and cost-effective new construction.

Infrastructure

We need to prioritize our roads and having accessible transportation. Currently, we only repair about 3.6% of our roads. Having well-maintained roads is vital for tourism, business, and for everyday citizens. We need to develop a long term plan that aggressively tackles our road repair needs. The plan needs to include funding from all levels, state, federal and local, as well as grants.

Small Business

While chair of the law and license committee, I cut red tape and reduced regulations that held back our small businesses. Some businesses view the city as a bully. We need to rebuild the trust, relationships that we have with the business sector to make sure Sheboygan's economy can thrive.

Sustainability & Conservation

Left unchecked, lakeshore erosion and rising lake levels pose a scary threat to Sheboygan's homes, small businesses and our way of life. We must capitalize on opportunities that will protect our communities and restore our beaches. As Mayor, I will restore the Sustainability Task Force , a resident committee that works to restore our environment & natural resources. I have and continue to oppose the annexation of the Black River Forest & is disturbed by the lack of integrity of the deal.

Diversity & Inclusion
I have a longstanding history for fighting for those who haven't been heard. There is a critical need for more diversity to focus on universal problems, get providers in communities where they are needed, and create a system that supports those needs. Our leadership must reflect on our community and its future by giving everyone a seat at the table. It starts by restructuring the way we share committee or local leadership opportunities. Right now, the mayor makes hundreds of appointments for positions of leadership. I will advocate for leadership of everyday Sheboyganites that have been too often left behind. These committees need to reflect our community and the future of it.

Housing

One third of the city is struggling to pay their water bill. 45% is struggling to pay for basic necessities. We need more affordable housing and more starter family homes in the city. We need to support sustainable land-use policies that maintain neighborhood integrity and allow working- and middle-class families to stay in their communities and produce truly affordable housing through adaptive reuse and cost-effective new construction. We can focus expanding housing for all, and by doing so acknowledge that if not, we’re at risk of forcing our neighbors, including poor & BIPOC Sheboyganites, out of our city because they can't find homes to live in.

Human Trafficking & Opioids
Sheboygan is tied for the second most reported cases of trafficking in Wisconsin. We need to further develop partnerships with nonprofits and other social sectors. We do have gaps in service to help lift people out of the cycle. We also need to develop partnerships with the SASD to help identify at-risk youth, to help take a preventative approach as well.
